DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE: Adult Service. The Hunter Valley Mental Health Team based at Maitland, offer services in the community and inpatient psychiatric accommodation. Two Registered Nurses and a part-time Occupational Therapist, are based in Muswellbrook to cover the Upper Hunter and offer support for people with a mental illness in the community, and their carers.

Upper Hunter Birth Choice seeks to improve maternity services for all women of the Upper Hunter.

We promote one to one midwifery care where a woman has one midwife for her pregnancy, childbirth and six weeks after the birth. This gives women the chance to form a trusting relationship with their midwife in a fully supported environment, which encourages positive birth experiences. This service can include outreach services where midwives hold a clinic in the local town or will visit you in your home. 

This would be a FREE service available to ALL women operating through existing health care facilities
