community response to two big issues. Firstly,
the ongoing drought is focusing negative attention on aspects of water use in
the Region. In an effort to provide
people with a positive approach to water issues, a project involving the local
arts community is under way to ensure water is also being celebrated.
Secondly,
there is a recognised need to respond to the community’s thirst for improved
knowledge, information and skills for better management of water resources.
While ours is essentially a farming/agricultural community, the local mining
industry could have a huge impact on the availability of water through the
geological impacts of their activities in the future. |
