Department of Housing is a social housing provider and assists eligible applicants to source appropriate housing outcomes.  Private rental market and Department stock are utilised in sourcing housing outcomes.

Cottage accommodation at the John Hunter hospital: To be eligible to stay at cottages, the patient must live 200km away & be next of kin to patient. reasonable cost  per person per night

Assisting homeless women & their dependent children. The service aims to address the specific need of these women, providing  accommodation for up to 12 months and a range of  support services. Womens Housing can now take full bond which can be paid off by the client

Assist clients find short term emergency accommodation. Support and advocate on behalf of clients for housing needs. Provide some assistance with bond and rent arrears.

 

Women’s and Children’s Refuge

Crisis accommodation and support to women with or without children who are escaping domestic violence.  24 hour service for the Upper Hunter.  The service also offers information, referral, domestic violence support group and court support to women who do not need accommodation. The Refuge also offers outreach information and education to rural communities and schools.
