Since 1947 the Scone community has embraced the running of the Scone Cup which has built in popularity to such an extent that the town welcomes over 8,000 patrons to the track each year.

The current race track, opened in 1994, is a state of the art facility and offers trainers, jockeys and owners a superb and true racing surface. The Scone Cup Carnival attracts some of Australia's leading jockeys and trainers and 2011 will be no exception.

Upper Hunter Shire Council declares a half day holiday for the local

community and visitors attend from all over Australia, as well as

overseas. There are some great marquee packages available.
